本书是从地理学与社会学结合的视角，重新审视自然灾害和社会易损关系的新专著。本书回顾和介绍了自然灾害社会易损性研究背景，灾害研究的主要流派和国外灾害易损性评估的主流评价指标和灾害的社会易损性分析的案例；在理论上，论述了灾害系统的组成，自然灾害的社会学性质、自然灾害与社会经济活动的关系，灾害易损性的相关概念和若干理论问题，建立了区域自然灾害的社会易损性评价的指标体系和评价、工作流程和评估方法，提出了基于社会易损性视角的社会减灾防灾对策和措施；展望了全球化背景下，自然灾害发展及其社会易损性新的趋势。在实践上，探索了国家尺度和省域尺度的区域自然灾害易损性评价和灾害易损性的空间分析。本书研究成果具有较高的学术和应用价值，可为从事减灾防灾工作的各级决策者和管理者，科研院所的研究人员和高等院校的师生提供参考。本书是以作者主持的国家社科基金项目（06XSH017）“自然灾害的社会易损性研究：以重庆为例”为基础撰写的。该项目已通过国家社科规划办评审，结论为：良好。

This book is a new monograph that re-examines the relationship between natural disasters and social vulnerability from the perspective of combining geography and sociology. This book reviews and introduces the background of the research on social vulnerability of natural disasters, the main schools of disaster research, the mainstream evaluation indicators of foreign disaster vulnerability assessment, and the cases of social vulnerability analysis of disasters. In theory, the composition of disaster system, the sociological nature of natural disasters, the relationship between natural disasters and social and economic activities, the relevant concepts and some theoretical issues of disaster vulnerability are discussed, the index system and evaluation, workflow and assessment methods of social vulnerability assessment of regional natural disasters are established, and social disaster reduction and prevention countermeasures and measures based on social vulnerability are proposed. The development of natural disasters and new trends in their social vulnerability in the context of globalization are prospected. In practice, the assessment of regional natural disaster vulnerability and the spatial analysis of disaster vulnerability at the national and provincial levels are explored.
