传统古村落、古名镇是星罗棋布的中国农村的缩影，是“乡愁”的寄寓地，也是新世纪城镇化建设的出发地。农村的城镇化推动了社会现代化进程，同时也使传统乡村遭遇了前所未有的冲击，生长在农耕文化土壤上的乡土民俗文化变成了遥远的历史记忆。该书是作者主持的国家社科基金项目的结硕成果，选择山西沁河流域、汾河流域、黄河沿岸、长城边关“三河一关”有代表性的古村镇作为研究对象，在实地调查的基础上，为古村镇文化景观的整体保护与扶贫策略诊脉发声提供学术支持。全书共有五章，每章首先从时代变迁、地域分布的角度总体论述各地域古村镇的历史文化与保护现状，然后选择具有标志性、典型性的专题深入探讨，综合运用民间文学、文艺美学、民俗学、社会学、文化人类学等多学科的理论进行分析解读。把个案研究与整体论述相结合，通过古村镇文化景观整体保护的“山西经验”，探索不同类型古村镇保护的共性问题，使之具有超越个案走向整体的学术意义。
Traditional ancient villages and towns are the epitome of China's rural areas, the places of "homesickness", and the starting point of urbanization construction in the new century. The urbanization of rural areas has promoted the process of social modernization, but at the same time, the traditional villages have encountered unprecedented impacts, and the local folk culture growing on the soil of agricultural culture has become a distant historical memory. The book is the fruitful result of the National Social Science Foundation project chaired by the author, and selects representative ancient villages and towns in the Qinhe River Basin, Fenhe River Basin, Yellow River Basin, and Great Wall Border Pass of Shanxi Province as research objects, and provides academic support for the overall protection of the cultural landscape of ancient villages and towns and the diagnosis of poverty alleviation strategies on the basis of field investigation. The book has five chapters, each chapter first discusses the history, culture and protection status of ancient villages and towns in each region from the perspective of the changes of the times and geographical distribution, and then selects landmark and typical topics for in-depth discussion, and comprehensively uses multidisciplinary theories such as folk literature, literary aesthetics, folklore, sociology, and cultural anthropology to analyze and interpret.
