“女性民俗”是女性在自己的历史发展过程中逐渐形成、反复出现、代代相习的生活文化事象。文学作品中的“女性民俗”对表现女性生命内核、塑造女性人物形象、深化作品主题思想具有十分重要的作用。本书借助于文艺民俗学学科平台，将“女性民俗”有机地融入文 学、文艺研究，使之成为阐释文学、构建理论的独特路径。为了便于论述，本书选取具有“江南”地域特色的现代文学作家作品进行针对性的研究，相关“女性民俗”主要涉及现代文学江南作家笔下跟女性有关且女性特征鲜明的民俗，或发生在女性个体身上的外在的和内在的、物质形态的和精神形态的、行为层面和心意层面 的民俗。
