本书是中国社会科学院国情重大调研课题 “湖北省麻城市福田河镇国情调研”的调研最终成果。本书题目是“杜鹃花城 菊花飘香—湖北省麻城市福田河镇调研报告”，杜鹃花城点明了调研地点隶属于湖北省麻城市，菊花飘香指的就是本次调研的“麻城福白菊”重镇——福田河镇。“麻城福白菊”是中国三大知名白菊品牌之一，也是福田河镇的重要特色产业之一。全书收集了大量的一手资料，经过多次走访调研和田野调查，对福田河镇统计数据、资料、年终总结、福田河镇镇志、麻城县志、麻城市统计年鉴等进行分析整理的基础上完成的。本书前九章对福田河镇的基本情况、自然条件、发展状况、工业、旅游业、小城镇建设、社会主义新农村建设、社会事业（包括科技、教育、文化和卫生、政府管理和党建工作等）进行了较为全面的考察，并重点介绍了福田河镇的特色产业福白菊、油茶产业和黑三羊等的发展情况。最后第十章对福田河镇取得的成绩、出现的问题进行分析，并提出福田河镇重点产业今后发展的构想。

This book is the final result of the research of the major research topic of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, "Investigation of the National Conditions of Futianhe Town, Macheng City, Hubei Province". The title of this book is "Rhododendron City Chrysanthemum Fragrance - Hubei Province Macheng Futianhe Town Research Report", Rhododendron City points out that the research site belongs to Macheng City, Hubei Province, and Chrysanthemum Fragrance refers to the "Macheng Fubaiju" town of this survey - Futianhe Town. "Macheng Fubaiju" is one of the three well-known white chrysanthemum brands in China and one of the important characteristic industries in Futianhe Town.
