以往对现代汉语缩略语的研究，多集中在界定与分类、构造原则、属性与语法功能上，在语言内部研究语言，以描述性为主，仅做到“知其然”。缩略语是一种语言现象，但也是人类认知在语言中的体现。本书采取解释为主的研究范式，运用概念转喻理论和概念整合理论深入研究汉语缩略语的生成构造、语义建构和语义拓展背后的认知机制，不仅做到“知其然”，更做到“知其所以然”，研究结果很好地体现了语言和认知的紧密联系。

In the past, the research on modern Chinese abbreviations mostly focused on definition and classification, construction principles, attributes and grammatical functions, and studied language within the language, mainly descriptive, and only "knowing". Abbreviations are a linguistic phenomenon, but they are also the embodiment of human cognition in language. This book adopts an interpretation-oriented research paradigm, uses conceptual metonymy theory and conceptual integration theory to deeply study the cognitive mechanism behind the generational construction, semantic construction and semantic expansion of Chinese abbreviations, not only to "know what it is", but also to "know the reason", and the research results well reflect the close connection between language and cognition.（AI翻译）
