清嘉庆、道光朝以来，全国兴起了资助士子科举考试的宾兴会，很多宾兴会一直存在直民国时期。本书以区域史的研究视角，通过对这种由社会精英控制的传统科举会社演变历史的分析，探讨晚清江西地方行政、地方政治的特质，以及民国江西宾兴会与地方社会、民国江西州县财政体制的确立等问题，分析晚清以来国家与社会关系出现的某些新面向，对嘉道以来的社会达致了较为深刻的认识。本书以江西为例，揭示了中国传统社会向现代转型在政治、社会、财政和经济方面的体现及内在机制。另外，通过对赣中与赣西北宾兴会历史的分析，阐释了清中叶至民国赣中、赣西北区域社会历史的结构过程。

Since the Jiaqing and Daoguang dynasties of the Qing Dynasty, the Binxing Association has emerged throughout the country to sponsor the imperial examination of scholars, and many Binxing Associations have always existed in the Zhi Republican period. From the perspective of regional history, this book analyzes the evolution history of this traditional imperial examination society controlled by social elites, discusses the characteristics of local administration and local politics in Jiangxi in the late Qing Dynasty, as well as the establishment of the financial system of the Jiangxi Binxing Association and local society in the Republic of China and Jiangxi Prefecture County in the Republic of China, analyzes some new aspects of the relationship between the state and society since the late Qing Dynasty, and has a deeper understanding of the society since Jiadao. Taking Jiangxi as an example, this book reveals the political, social, financial and economic embodiment and internal mechanisms of the transition from traditional Chinese society to modernity. In addition, through the analysis of the history of the Bin Xing Association in central Gan and northwestern Gansu, the structural process of social history from the middle of the Qing Dynasty to central Gan and northwestern Gan is explained.（AI翻译）
