劳伦斯·达雷尔（Lawrence Durrell，1912-1990）是常被我国外国文学研宄者们所忽视的、颇为高产的著名现当代英国作家，曾获达夫·库珀文学奖、布莱克纪念奖，1982年获布克奖提名，1988年获诺贝尔文学奖提名。达雷尔被亨利·米勒、T.S.艾略特和劳伦斯·鲍威尔等誉为最具创新精神的作家，是现代主义文学到后现代主义文学创作中极具代表意义的过渡型作家，其作品开启了后现代和后殖民小说创作的新领域，对达雷尔的研宄具有重要的理论价值和现实意义。对达雷尔不同形式、体裁作品的分类研宄以及对内含其中的伦理选择范式和价值评判标准的阐释将对英国后殖民流散文学和英国社会后殖民、后现代语境下的伦理与文化价值评价研究有所贡献。《劳伦斯·达雷尔研宄》是我国外国文学研究领域较为全面地研宄著名英国作家劳伦斯·达雷尔的首部学术专著。《劳伦斯·达雷尔研究》以达雷尔不同时期、不同体裁的代表作，如：小说《恋人们的吹笛手》、《恐慌的跳跃：一部爱情小说》、《黑书》、《亚历山大四重奏》、《阿芙罗狄特的反抗》、《阿维尼翁五重奏》、《朱迪思》；游记《普洛斯彼罗的房间：科孚岛风土人情导读》、《海上维纳斯的思考》、《苦柠檬》和戏剧《萨福：诗剧》为主要研宄对象。以历史唯物主义为指导思想，本书将后殖民、后现代文化批评与文学伦理学批评有机结合在一起重点考察不同文化、政治及历史语境下劳伦斯·达雷尔作品中伦理道德批评范式的表现形式与内容。
