南社是近代的文人结社，邱睿编著的《南社诗人群体研究》将南社的研究进行了时间维度的拓展，不再局限于14年社团史的梳理，而是将南社的诗人群体置于“前南社时代”、“南社时代”、“后南社时代”的时空维度下去关注文人的聚散与文学的变迁，更完整地描述了以南社为代表的革命文学的演进历程。本文尝试还原文学现场，对南社的诗歌创作给出一个符合历史实际的解释，淡化南社的“政治”定位，强调南社在历史转型期的文化意义；避免定型化的介绍，而以大历史的视野去解读南社的文化事件；不以介绍代表诗人诗作为主，而将南社诗人作为一个群体来关注，发掘群体的创作旨向；南社诗群是近代诗歌史上一股重要的力量，本文也试图通过对南社诗歌的阐释来解读古典诗歌的近代走向。
