Centered on ancient China and Greece, the book discusses the identity changes experienced by the two major groups between the 8th and 5th centuries BC. The author argues that the great interethnic interactions that took place during this period contributed to a cultural shift in Chinese and Greek identity. Before the inter-ethnic interaction, the ethnic identity of China and Greece was mainly based on blood as the standard, and after the inter-ethnic interaction, the cultural standard became a new landmark of the ethnic boundary, forming a tradition of cultural identity, and at the same time generating a sense of cultural prejudice against others.
