中国—中东欧研究院于2017年秋季启动了第一次民调项目，就中东欧16个国家的民众如何看待中国的发展这一主题进行了广泛的问卷调查。该调查通过招标方式，与专业民调机构合作，每个国家1000份问卷，共计1.6万份问卷。相关成果，英文版由中国—中东欧研究院在匈牙利出版。中文版于2018年由中国社会科学出版社在国内出版，书名为《中东欧国家如何看待中国的发展——基于对中东欧居民的问卷调查报告》。

2018年秋季，中国—中东欧研究院启动了第二次民调项目，把调查的覆盖面从16个国家扩展到18个国家，不仅有中东欧16 国，还增加了希腊和白俄罗斯。同样，还是通过招标方式，与专业民调机构合作，采用同样的抽样方法，每个国家1000份问卷，共计1.8万份问卷。本报告是2018年民调的结果。除了分析2018年的民众看法之外，还增加了与2017年民调结果进行比较的内容。中国—中东欧研究院希望通过每年一次的民调项目，逐渐积累起一个数据库，并据此观察中东欧国家的民众对中国发展的看法的变化。

中国—中东欧研究院非营利有限责任公司由中国社会科学院于2017年4月在匈牙利首都布达佩斯注册成立，是中国在欧洲首家独立注册的新型智库。中国—中东欧研究院坚持务实合作的原则，稳步而积极地寻求与中东欧国家智库合作，并以匈牙利为依托，在中东欧乃至欧洲开展实地调研、合作研究、联合出版、人员培训、系列讲座等学术和科研活动。

The China-CEE Institute launched its first poll in the fall of 2017 to conduct an extensive survey on how people in 16 CEE countries view China's development. The survey was conducted by tender and in cooperation with professional pollsters, with 1,000 questionnaires per country, for a total of 16,000 questionnaires. The English version of the relevant results was published in Hungary by the China-CEE Institute. The Chinese edition was published in China by China Social Sciences Press in 2018 under the title "How Central and Eastern European Countries View China's Development: Based on a Questionnaire Survey Report of Central and Eastern European Residents".
