Zimbabwe is a country with important influence in southern Africa and an important object of China's cooperation with Africa. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1980, the friendly relations between China and Zimbabwe have continued to deepen and have become a model of friendly cooperation between China and Africa. In recent years, driven by the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the Belt and Road Initiative, China-Zimbabwe relations have entered a new stage of development, highlighted by the upgrading of bilateral relations to comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in April 2018.
