The BRI proposed by President Xi Jinping in 2013 has made great contributions to the building of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind in promoting the economic globalization orientated towards a more open，inclusive，equitable，balanced and win-win situation and tackling the deficits in peace，development，trust and governance in global affairs.

A new globalization propelled by the BRI shows three characteristics in practice：1）the trend of the times for peace and development，cooperation and win-win results is getting more and more momentum； 2）“Extensive Consultation，Joint Contribution and Shared Benefits”has become a new principle for global governance； and 3）the concept of“a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind”has been widely recognized and actively responded to by the international community.In the present era，the driving force behind the new globalization is growing day by day.More and more countries and individuals have become its firm supporters，advocates，and practitioners.It has become the mainstream consciousness to jointly build a community with shared interests，responsibilities and a shared future featured with“Mutual Political Trust，Economic Integration and Cultural Inclusiveness”.

The new round of industrial revolution ushered in by emerging technologies such as new energy，big data，AI and multi-scenario overlapping application of these technologies is redefining the“Smart Future”and bringing profound changes to the new globalization.The BRI provides the international community with a great opportunity to promote the integration of new globalization and the new round of industrial revolution，builds up the great momentum of global development and considerably enhances the re-balance of the global governance structure and international order.Through the cross-sector application of new technologies and cross-industry integration，the BRI will help countries and regions develop new industries，new business mode and new cooperation mode，foster new economic growth points，and promote the balanced and sustainable development of the world.

Since it was established five years ago，RDI has laid a solid foundation and built its framework in its innovative practice guided by the BRI.In 2019，RDI followed the social progress and international deve-lopment trend and gave full play to its value and advantages as an application-oriented think tank.It had outstanding performances in providing consultation and advice for governments and enterprises，guiding public opinion and promoting international exchanges in the following aspects：1）promoting effective connection between China and the countries along the B&R，forming the G2G，T2T and B2B cooperation model between Qingdao and Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states，between Zhuhai and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Portuguese-speaking countries，between Nanning and ASEAN countries，between Ningbo and Central/Eastern European countries，and between Suzhou and European/American countries； 2）developing a widely-covered cooperation alliance，namely，its membership of BRI Think Tank Cooperation Alliance and development of close strategic cooperation relations with the Office of the Central Commission for Integrated Military and Civilian Development，the Committee for Ethnic and Religious Affairs of the National Committee of the CPPCC，CASS，CAS，as well as domestic and foreign political parties，governments，parliaments，think tanks，enterprises，financial institutions，civil societies，media and international multilateral/bilateral organizations； 3）establishing the Advisory Committee of RDI with renowned experts and scholars at home and abroad，former foreign dignitaries，well-known enterprises and industry elites in various fields.The Advisory Committee of RDI has played an important role in decision-making consultation，policy research，enterprise strategic planning，and international exchanges and cooperation； 4）attracting a group of young and promising people as its Secretariat members to carry out RDI platform operation，injecting vitality into RDI and promoting its rapid development.Now，RDI has developed into a systematic platform covering think tank network，international cooperation network and enterprise network，laying a solid foundation for promoting the construction of a new B&R think tank.

We hope that RDI will keep its position as an application-oriented think tank to carry out work on policy research and give better intellectual support to the national development； it will continue gathering more talents，improving capacity-buildings and giving full play to the pioneering role as an application-oriented think tank； it will actively interact with enterprises to serve the national strategy and help more Chinese enterprises go global by enhancing their capacity-building in international cooperation； and it will commit itself to better implementing the BRI and pushing forward the new globalization and the 4^th Industrial Revolution.
