Indicator 2.1: Store of value

Table 46，with two tertiary indicators for proportion as foreign exchange reserve currencies and weights of currencies in the SDR basket，reflects the role of the currency of each nation/region as store of value internationally in 2023，with the US and the Eurozone far ahead of other countries.The US dollar ranked 1st under both tertiary indicators of the “proportion of foreign exchange reserve currencies” and “SDR weights”，so it scored 100 under the secondary indicator of “store of value”.The Eurozone ranked 2nd under both tertiary indicators，and hence under “store of value”，with a score of 50.74.Compared with that of 2022，the rankings of Chinese Inland，Japan and UK stayed the same places respectively at the 3rd，4th and 5th.The ratings of Chinese Inland and Japan have experienced declines to 16.24 and 13.33.UK came with a rating of 12.71，an increase over that of the previous year.Due to the fact that there has been no adjustment in the weight of the SDR basket currencies in 2023，the changes in the ratings of the three countries were all caused by the changes in the ratings of the tertiary indicators of the proportion of foreign exchange reserve currency baskets.In addition，Canada，Australia，and Switzerland also got their ratings concerning the indicators for the proportion as foreign exchange reserve currencies for the available data，despite the relatively low ratings since their currencies are not included in the SDR basket.The currencies of other countries/regions have a score of zero under this indicator because they are not explicitly stated in the IMF’s official foreign exchange reserve currency composition survey database and do not belong to SDR currencies.The currencies of other countries/regions，not identified in the IMF COFER database and not belonging to SDR currencies，get ratings of zero for this indicator.
