王巍，男，汉族，1954年5月生，山东荣成人。1978年3月，考入吉林大学历史系考古专业。1995年1月获得日本九州大学文学博士学位。1996年7月，获中国社会科学院研究生院历史学博士学位。

1999年，被评为中国社会科学院有突出贡献专家，博士生导师。享受政府特殊津贴。2006年被授予美洲考古学会终身外籍院士。2011年，当选中国社会科学院学部委员。2013年2月，当选第十二届全国人大代表。2017年12月12日，当选河南大学古代文明中心主任。2018年3月19日，中华人民共和国第十三届全国人民代表大会第一次会议通过王巍为第十三届全国人民代表大会教育科学文化卫生委员会委员。

The book is edited by Mr. Wang Weiguang, former President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, who initiated the book and made important contributions to the development of the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and even Chinese archaeology, as the honorary editor-in-chief; and Wang Wei, former Director of the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Chairman of the Chinese Archaeological Society, who was the main organizer of the compilation of the whole book, is the editor-in-chief. Chen Xingcan, director of the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Zhao Jianying, president of the Chinese Social Sciences Press, are the Associate Editors.
